Alec Goldfarb and Ravi Venugopalan

Join us Wednesday 5/13 for Hindustani classical music with Alec Goldfarb, a Brooklyn-based guitarist exploring a distinct approach to raga performance on guitar. Drawing from years of study and immersion in the tradition, his work translates the depth and nuance of raga into a new instrumental voice without losing its structure or discipline.

Following two consecutive tours in India, this marks his first NYC performance—returning with a refined sound shaped by live practice and collaboration within the tradition. The recital will unfold in a classical format, moving through slow, meditative development into more rhythmic and dynamic sections.

He is joined by Ravi Venugopalan, a lifelong Tabla maestro who has studied under Great Tabla Virtuoso Pandit Anindo Chatterjee and his son Shree Anubrata Chatterjee, as well as Ustad Faiyaz Khan Saheb, and Sachil Ben.
